Regenerative Pasture Establishment at Stella Manor with Cody Deluisio

Cody Deluisio, founder of Stella Manor and Deluisio Angus, is committed to advancing regenerative agriculture through practical, scalable methods. At the heart of this season’s work is the establishment of a long-term medicinal pasture designed to feed cattle, heal the land, and build soil health for years to come.

The seed mix was sourced from Strictly Medicinal Seeds and consists of a thoughtful blend of grasses, legumes, and herbs — including timothy, oats, crimson clover, red clover, chicory, yarrow, plantain, and more. Cody drilled the seed using a grain drill, blending it with organic rye and oats to provide cover crop protection during establishment.

A Regenerative Pasture Plan with Long-Term Impact

This isn’t a temporary grazing plot — it’s a five- to ten-year permanent pasture designed to operate with minimal soil disruption. After this one-time planting, Cody’s cattle will manage the land through rotational grazing, which naturally recycles nutrients and builds organic matter in the soil.

To meet the nitrogen needs of the forage, Cody interseeded additional crimson clover and alfalfa, ensuring biological nitrogen fixation replaces the need for synthetic fertilizers. Grazing livestock will complete the nutrient loop, returning organic material to the land as part of a low-input, high-return ecosystem.

This field sits alongside a visible roadside, so Cody added a modest planting of echinacea to increase visual appeal while supporting pollinators. It’s a subtle detail, but one that reflects the balance of stewardship and presentation that characterizes both Stella Manor and the philosophy behind Deluisio Angus.
